500 YTT level Asana Clinic

So it looks like the Asana Clinic running in July will be at the 500 hour YTT level. What that means is that if you've already done your teacher training someplace, you are eligible to join us. It also means we have changed the course hours to be from 9 - 3 as we are teaching a 30 hour course. It costs $480.

Please join us from 9 - 3 Monday, July 7 - Friday, July 11.

If you have a special group in mind that you've either come across in your teaching or you are personally interested in learning more about, this is the session where will go into some detail about those different modifications and special circumstances surrounding those groups. Examples are: people recovering from cancer; elderly people; pregnant women; teens; you name it. Let us know in advance what you'd like to focus on and we'll see if we can manage to fit it in the training.

If you are still at the 200 YTT level and are really eager to join us, please contact us and we will have a conversation about where we can put you :)

Each day we will be taking a look at common yoga postures and turning them around, customizing them, and finding a way to draw the benefits of the poses while accommodating different circumstances.

At the end of the course you will have a better understanding of the groups you've selected as well as groups the other members of the course have selected. This will inform your teaching at a general level, but will also allow you to expand confidently into specialized groups.

JULY Posture Clinics!

Have you ever wanted to learn more about the yoga poses you're doing in class, but there's just not enough time to learn about them in the 60 or 90-minute session?

Then this is the workshop series for you!

During the week we will go through a variety of common yoga poses - their alignment details - modifications that your particular body might need at different times - benefits of the poses - and when to not do the pose. In addition, we'll take a closer look at the anatomy of the body and how it relates to moving in yoga poses.

This course is so thorough that it forms the basis of the 200-hour yoga teacher training program. If you would like to continue on becoming a yoga teacher, you are welcome to work through the rest of the curriculum, however, if all you wanted was to deepen your own personal practice, then you could stop right there.

We'll explore natural law and the cycle of renewal as expressed universally across ancient cultures. There's more to it than this, and we'll wrap up the evening with a specific activity to honour the season and tap into that energy of renewal!

Please confirm your participation by email~ Kat or Jamine so we know how many to expect! Thanks and looking forward to seeing you.

Exploring Ancient Texts

Explore some of the eternal messages of the ancient Indian texts, their significance in their times and how the same messages continue to be applicable in todays modern life.

Providing context through some of the teachings of the Vedas, Upanishads and Purunas, most of our exploration will be on the main messages offered through the teachings imbedded in the Bhagavad Gita. We'll look at timeless guidelines around how to walk in this world with alignment- mentally, physically and in full, inspired self.

This six-week course is open to all with an interest in learning about yogic philosophy. The evenings run as other Living Yoga programs do with Jamine and Kat; some facilitated, interactive discussion, optional reflective work (homework) and of course, fun. The ancient teachings become accessible and relevant to now. All this happens in the cozy, informal space we've been calling the Makata Livingroom, near Carleton U.  Interested? Come join us

Tuesday evenings, January 21- February 28, from 7pm-9pm

Course registration closes THIS FRIDAY- so if you are interested, please reserve your spot by Friday, January 17th. Details on the right hand side of the blog!
